FAQ

FAQ – we will be adding to this constantly over the next couple of weeks and hope to answer all of your questions in videos and on here in text form.

If you have questions about the device, we shall endeavour to answer them both here and in future videos…

Check out the video topics here.

(we do these videos because we really get sick of reading FAQ’s but still there’s the written section anyway!)

Is it possible to connect an USB-hub to this device where I could connect an external HDD (preferly without it’s own power source, but that’s just an extra), a mouse + keyboard (to keep it simple with http://tinyurl.com/d8p2c4e as an combining connector) and possibly other stuff. The thing I’m wondering is, if the power supply of this device would suffice whilest connected to, for instance, a TV?

Does it support 3g dongle? Thanks!

is possible to connect a webcam for skyping?

    • I tried this the other day, without success. It’s all to do with Android 4.0 rather than the device itself.
I will be making a video about what does and doesn’t work in my experince, I’ll be posting some more videos tomorrow.
You can get it to work with a linux based operating system, but that is a bit of a complicated route for webcams!
(i’ll be getting onto this in later videos for more advanced users)

Have you noticed any overheating in the unit? I want to use at a form of ‘digital signage’ and an not too sure it is ready for that yet.

    Thanks.

    Can I update RAM?

Have you tested any video using SRT subtitles? I intend to play MKV video + STR subs.

    • I have indeed, they work great.
The pre-installed media player is actually really good. .srt files work well – they need to be ‘turned on’ in the second menu of the media player.
There’s an option called ‘subtitle gate’ which has to swiped over to the ‘on’ or ’1′ position and then the .srt files appear.

how did you get on with wifi in ubuntu linux i tried firefox it didnt work for me on 1gb model?
i was hoping to get youview working or at least iplayer and stvplayer/itvplayer 4od and demand5 can you do this on linux oor android on mk802 at the moment ?

    • i think there is some sort of fix for the linux wifi issue.

remote desktop can be a solution to getting certain things to work – 4od should work fine as the unit has the youtube app, but i can check that.

Hi all, I have a MK802 mini PC and I have a problem with the sound of mkv files. I install so many video player but I havent sound, the quality and performance of the video was great but no sound! finaly, I have install bsplayer and the mkv file plays with sound but the video was slowly and I dont know what to do. Please give me some solution. Thanks in advance.

    • HI Pablo on the mx player you have an option for different playback solutions , one = HW and one = SW try using SW and this should bring you some joy with those files. (the same thing happens with .wmv files a lot of the time)
Also mx player does have other codecs to download for ARM based devices.
