FAQ – we will be adding to this constantly over the next couple of weeks and hope to answer all of your questions in videos and on here in text form.
If you have questions about the device, we shall endeavour to answer them both here and in future videos…
Check out the video topics here.
(we do these videos because we really get sick of reading FAQ’s but still there’s the written section anyway!)

Dose this support USB audio?
that’s a very good question, let me test that, I have some usb speakers to test that. Watch this space.
No luck on the USB speakers I’m afraid, I think it may be an issue for android as it doesn’t recognise any form of the USB speaker.
Have you tried using a USB sound card? I found a website (unfortunately only in German) that states to be able to use a cheap USB sound card on an Archos G9 tablet.
http://www.fuxblog.de/2011/12/15/usb-soundkarte-am-archos-80-g9/
Is it possible that you can check that out?
Thanks a lot.
I’ll have a go.
Any sound usb sound cards you could recommend?
The guy from the website recommends something like this(again website only in German, sorry): http://adaptare-shop.de/Audio-DIN—Bananen-USB-Soundkarte/a20158068_u526_z5e2388f3-4a8f-48e3-8d43-77d45d82aa09/
I don’t whether or not this is any particular sound chip. From a different source a guy told me that it needs to be a sound card that is supported by Linux and then eventually might work on the MK802. I wouldn’t expect a very outstanding sound from the MK802 so if a cheap sound card would work I’d get one right away. A sound card from a better-known manufacturer could be the Creative X-Fi Go (Linux drivers available) which might work (see here for example http://www.amazon.co.uk/Creative-Labs-70SB129000002-Sound-Blaster/dp/B0042RUERG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1340279402&sr=8-1).
ok, well let me purchase a cheapo one and see how I get on with it.
Also interested in this, I appreciate the testing very much, can’t wait to hear back. Lack of audio out is terrible for me, as I intend to use this with a pico projector (that also somehow doesn’t have audio out) -_-
Thanks.
I’m wondering…
To combine these 2:

Is it possible to connect an USB-hub to this device where I could connect an external HDD (preferly without it’s own power source, but that’s just an extra), a mouse + keyboard (to keep it simple with http://tinyurl.com/d8p2c4e as an combining connector) and possibly other stuff. The thing I’m wondering is, if the power supply of this device would suffice whilest connected to, for instance, a TV?
Yeah I pretty much tried this on our 3rd video
http://www.myminipc.co.uk/different-confgurations-for-the-mini-pc/
the hard drive without power will work fine straight from the unit.
Does it support 3g dongle? Thanks!
Oooh, good question. I don’t have one of those, I’ll have to put in a request for one.
It would be great if you could test it out.
is possible to connect a webcam for skyping?
I tried this the other day, without success. It’s all to do with Android 4.0 rather than the device itself.
I will be making a video about what does and doesn’t work in my experince, I’ll be posting some more videos tomorrow.
You can get it to work with a linux based operating system, but that is a bit of a complicated route for webcams!
(i’ll be getting onto this in later videos for more advanced users)
thanks for reply, at this link ther’s a list of uvc webcam http://www.ideasonboard.org/uvc/
the webcam that you tried to connect is one of the list?
Have you noticed any overheating in the unit? I want to use at a form of ‘digital signage’ and an not too sure it is ready for that yet.
Thanks.
what do you mean by digital signage
Can you connect to the internet using a USB to Ethernet adapter?
Steve again. I just found the USB Ethernet Adapter video. Thanks. Voids last post.
Hi, Can you use the new android market play.google.com ?
Youtube native Android application work OK ? or youtube work only from browser ?
yeah, google play works fine
youtube app works fine too.
Can I update RAM?
Since it’s DDR3. If I can, How much do I can put of in it?
i think you might need to be a bit hander with solder to update ram, its fused onto the board (not like a normal computer where you can take it out)
Have you tested any video using SRT subtitles? I intend to play MKV video + STR subs.
I have indeed, they work great.
The pre-installed media player is actually really good. .srt files work well – they need to be ‘turned on’ in the second menu of the media player.
There’s an option called ‘subtitle gate’ which has to swiped over to the ‘on’ or ’1′ position and then the .srt files appear.
how did you get on with wifi in ubuntu linux i tried firefox it didnt work for me on 1gb model?
i was hoping to get youview working or at least iplayer and stvplayer/itvplayer 4od and demand5 can you do this on linux oor android on mk802 at the moment ?
i think there is some sort of fix for the linux wifi issue.
remote desktop can be a solution to getting certain things to work – 4od should work fine as the unit has the youtube app, but i can check that.
Hello, I’d like to ask how it is with webcam and skype call – is it possible to do video calls and how it is with mic.
thanks
no webcam works with the unit at the moment.
thanks a lot, my next question how it is with heating? I want to have it on 24/7 is it possible without some damage? thanks
with the small holes in the 1gb version it seems to work fine over longer periods.
I’ve only used one for a maximum of about 6 hours so far, and had no problem.
I think your question may well be something more for the factory guys!

Hi, I’ve seen the video where you try youtube streaming.
But have you tried a whole movie in sockshare, putlocker? I have and old notebook that works just fine on youtube, but cannot mantain the performance for a whole movie in HQ.
Also, do you deliver to Argentina? Cost ?
Regards,
Gustavo

Hi all, I have a MK802 mini PC and I have a problem with the sound of mkv files. I install so many video player but I havent sound, the quality and performance of the video was great but no sound! finaly, I have install bsplayer and the mkv file plays with sound but the video was slowly and I dont know what to do. Please give me some solution. Thanks in advance.
HI Pablo on the mx player you have an option for different playback solutions , one = HW and one = SW try using SW and this should bring you some joy with those files. (the same thing happens with .wmv files a lot of the time)
Also mx player does have other codecs to download for ARM based devices.
